If you cannot find the answer to your question below, please contact one of our friendly flooring experts.

+ HOW DO I GO ABOUT BUYING FLOORING?

The first step in getting your brand new floor is to visit one of our showrooms located at Picton and Engadine. Our friendly staff members will be able to help you select a style of flooring based on your needs and wants.

It's a good idea to bring a floor plan of the area you wish to cover or have a reasonably accurate estimate of the quantity you need. This will help give an idea of the total cost so you can remain within your budget.

Once we have helped you with selecting the products you need, we can send one of our experienced estimators to measure your rooms, draw up a floor plan showing where all your joins will be and work out your exact quantity. The estimator will then pass the floor plan to your attending staff member and he or she will work out your quote.

Quotes can be transmitted by any means you prefer - phone, email, fax, etc. If you accept the quote, we will then book your installation for as soon as possible. This can depend on availability of product and installers, but is usually 1 to 14 days.

+ CAN YOU REMOVE OUR EXISTING FLOOR COVERINGS AND/OR MOVE OUR FURNITURE?

Yes, we can remove existing floor coverings and move furniture at a nominal cost. We ask that you move personal items and make sure larger pieces of furniture are emptied and ready to be moved. For example, empty wall units, remove sheets off beds, disconnect electrical items, etc. We will not move any sensitive or precious items.

+ HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO INSTALL FLOOR COVERINGS IN MY HOME?

Most installations are completed within one working day. This time may vary due to the size of your home and the area being installed. One of our friendly staff members will be able to inform you once you share a plan of your home, following a free measure and quote.

+ WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SQUARE METRE AND A BROADLOOM METRE?

A square metre is 1 metre x 1 metre. A broadloom metre is 1 square metre of the fill width measurement of the carpet roll. The width of a standard roll of carpet is 3.66 metres, therefore making a broadloom metre 3.66 square metres.

To calculate your broadloom metres, divide the square metres of your area by 3.66. In some instances when dealing with irregular sized carpet rolls,  this measurement can be 4 metres.

+ WHY DO WE PRICE IN SQUARE METRES?

We prefer to price our products in square metres to make it easier for our customers to directly compare pricing of different types of flooring - carpet, timber and ceramic tiles.

+ HOW IMPORTANT IS CARPET UNDERLAY?

We believe that underlay is extremely important to the feel and wear of the carpet. We recommend a recognisable branded underlay such as Dunlop Underlay, an Australian made product guaranteed for the life of the carpet installed.

Underlay is produced in a wide range of qualities, each providing a different feel. The higher the quality of underlay, the more luxurious it will feel, the more support it will give to your new carpet and the quieter it will make your home, especially in second floor installations and on staircases.

Cheap underlay will not protect the carpet and decrease the feel rapidly. Be aware of unbranded generic underlays commonly advertised as 'premium' or 'gold', as most have no warranty and their composition is usually unknown.

+ IF I AM REPLACING THE CARPET IN MY HOME, DO I HAVE TO REPLACE THE UNDERDAY?

We strongly recommended that you change your underlay when replacing your carpet. Your carpet and underlay will wear over time, leaving the underlay with the wear patterns of the existing carpet. Please note that manufacturers will void a carpets warranty if laid on old underlay. The old saying "the quality remains when the price is forgotten" is very relevant to carpet underlay.

+ HOW MUCH DOES A TIMBER/LAMINATE FLOOR COST?

Prices of timber and laminate flooring vary depending on the species of timber, quality of laminate and style you are seeking. Visit our showrooms to browse our larger range of styles or call and speak to one of our friendly staff members to get quote on the style you prefer.

+ SHOULD I BUY A PLUSH OR TWIST PILE CARPET?

It is recommended that you select a product depending on your lifestyle and the foot traffic in your home. Plush pile carpet is luxurious, providing comfortable flooring for everyday living. Twist pile carpet is also luxurious and comfortable, with the added benefit of reducing tracking or foot marking.

+ WHICH IS BETTER, WOOL OR NYLON?

There is no simple answer to this question, as each product has different properties which may suit your needs better than others. There are various qualities of will and nylon carpets available across a range of prices. As each finer has its own benefits, different fibres will suit different individual needs. To find the best type of carpet to suit your needs or for specific recommendations please contact one of our showrooms today.
